JPRS translation of a Tempo profile (c. early 1977) of Maria Ulfah Santoso (b. Serang 1911): her marriage to political prisoner Soebadio Sastrosatomo with Subandrio's help (Jan 1964), early women's-movement work, Perwari and Kowani, and the PSI. She says that during her 11 years leading Kowani from 1952, 'PKI and Gerwani worked diligently to gain control of Kowani' and she withdrew. The rest is a Merdeka editorial on party platforms.

Terjemahan JPRS profil Tempo (sekitar awal 1977) tentang Maria Ulfah Santoso (lahir Serang 1911): pernikahannya dengan tahanan politik Soebadio Sastrosatomo atas bantuan Subandrio (Jan 1964), kiprah awal di gerakan perempuan, Perwari dan Kowani, serta PSI. Ia menyatakan selama 11 tahun memimpin Kowani sejak 1952, 'PKI dan Gerwani bekerja keras merebut kendali Kowani' sehingga ia mundur. Sisanya editorial Merdeka tentang platform partai.

“'During this period PKI and Gerwani worked diligently to gain control of Kowani and I finally withdrew completely' (p. 48).”
